Highland Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Highland Hospital, Kanawha County Schools and Suddenlink.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
The show airing August 24, 2015 – August 31, 2015 ‘highlights’ the Integrated Behavioral Health Conference and the YMCA of Kanawha Valley’s Roast on the Roof.
We interviewed Kathy Paxton, Director, Division on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities. Ms Paxton gave us all the details of their upcoming conference scheduled for September 22nd-24th, 2015 at the Charleston Civic Center. The conference is titled Integrated Behavioral Health Conference. Highland is proud to be a part of this.
We also interviewed Erin Adkins, Director of Community Development with the YMCA of Kanawha Valley.
She recapped the wonderful summer the YMCA is concluding as she updated us on the Summer Camps, Corporate Cup and the Spirit of the Valley.
Coming up on August 29, 2015 is their Roast on the Roof, a new fundraising event schedule from 6-10 p.m. on the roof of the State Capitol Complex parking garage.
Embrace that country summer feeling with live music from Hogans Goat, and The Band Wagon. Enjoy a pig roast with all the sides and adult and non-alcoholic cold beverages. All you can eat, all you can drink!
The Roast on the Roof fundraiser will be held on the roof of the parking garage at the Capitol. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Y and new programming geared toward community and youth development in the Charleston area, as well as recognize those in the area who have dedicated their time to the betterment of the community.
