A retired school teacher, Debi O’dell, started Elk River Blessings in order to feed students. The mission of this organization is to provide food to elementary students whose main source for food is their school. They provide a back pack of nutritious, kid friendly food at the end of each school week. Students take the back packs of food home at the end of the week and return the bag at the start of the next week. When there is a long school break, this group sends home a box of food to help feed the students while not in school. Their goal is to help ease the hunger of the child so that they attend school regularly, have better health, and are successful. They started this program in October of 2013 with 19 students in two schools. It has grown to serving 125 students from seven different Elk River schools in 2 years.
This event promises to be full of great food, spirited drinks and plenty of auction items. Cost is $25 per person.
A special guest, John Eric Booth, will be providing some wonderful music as you dine and socialize. It should be a very rewarding and entertaining evening.
We hope you can join us.
