We interviewed Kasey Russell, Executive Director of WV Connecting Communities. She discussed her organization and their upcoming Bike Summit.
Connecting Communities is a statewide non-profit providing a unifying voice for citizens, elected officials and policy leaders to address smart growth and a complete transportation system for our state. Their vision is, where feasible, people can bike or walk to their neighborhood grocery store and kids can bike or walk safely to school. They want to find ways to help people lead healthier lifestyles because they can walk and bike where they live if given the opportunity.
Kasey also discussed their excitement for the WV Bike Summit scheduled for January 24, 25, 2016 at the Charleston Marriott.
The West Virginia Bike Summit is a two-day community event in Charleston, WV. The first day will feature a group ride through the city, a networking reception as well as exhibitors.
Sessions will show how cycling benefits tourism, economic development and quality of life in the area. Anyone interested in how cycling benefits the community is welcome to attend. Participants and exhibitors can register at the link below.

Marty gave us an overview of the Putnam Chamber; the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1979 and now has approximately 550 members. The Chamber is a 501 (c) (6) private independent non-profit organization supported entirely by its members. It is not a governmental agency and does not receive outside funding. Member dues are not a charitable donation, but a good business investment as 97% of the dues are tax deductible as a business expense.
Ashley talked about some of their major programs and events. She highlighted their new Brown Bag Series. Also the popular Leadership Putnam County. And of course the ever-popular Putnam County Chamber Golf Tournament held every July at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
Ashley also reminded our viewers about their upcoming Annual Meeting/Dinner scheduled for January 29, 2016 at the Charleston Marriott beginning at 6:00 p.m.
