Highland Hospital is proud to Support the 16th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure set for Saturday, May 7, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the WV State Capitol Complex.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest 5K in the state with over 750 timed runners last year. Certified flat course makes for a great time in more ways than one! The stage is set for a wonderful celebration of breast cancer Survivors and supporters.
Last week Susan G. Komen WV granted out $233,000.00 to West Virginia health facilities across the state because of YOU! That’s funding for uninsured West Virginians to get the education, screenings and treatments they need. YOU are literally helping to save lives!
So here’s what you need to know:
May 6th from 5pm-7pm – Packet Pick Up Party at the Bert Wolfe Ford showroom. Our beloved Steve & Jenny will be there from V100 as well as the our partners from WOWK TV and many more. Grab your Team or personal Race for the Cure packet, grab a bite to eat and check out the fabulous Komen merchandise on sale along with the NEW WVU and Marshall “Live Pink” tees. You are going to love them!
Race Day agenda is as follows:
5am- the Early Bird Team of volunteers, Race Committee and BOD will be there to unload the trucks and set up camp. We couldn’t do this without YOU!
5:30-6am- Sponsors and everyone that has a tent needs to unload vehicles and be off the Boulevard by 6am. The Boulevard will then be officially closed. We couldn’t do this without YOU!
6am- 6:30- other volunteers check in, get volunteer tees be assigned to their duties. We couldn’t do this without YOU!
7am-8:45- Registrations for all runners and walkers open. Packet pick up for pre-registered.
8:10am – Team photos on Capitol steps.
8:40am – Survivor celebration and group photo on Capitol steps.
8:45am – National Anthem and Color Guards.
9:00am – Official timed Race begins.
9:15 – Untimed walk (we always try to hold ’em back but they are just too ready to Race for the Cure).
10:00am – The Kids Race for the Cure at the Finish Line area.
10:30am – The awards ceremony for Teams and timed runners.
