We interviewed Bethany Hall, Executive Director and Nikki Kinder, Special Events Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bethany talked about their purpose and mission.
The Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter is the only voluntary health organization in West Virginia solely dedicated to providing education and support service to individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, to their families and caregivers. The WV Chapter serves all 55 counties in West Virginia and six counties in eastern Ohio. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Nikki talked about all the special events throughout the year and the importance of raising awareness and necessary funds to support the 300,000 caregivers and 37,000 West Virginians suffering from Alzheimer’s.
One of their biggest days of the year is set for June 20, 2016, the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year in terms of daylight.
