New Highland Hospital Ground Breaking Ceremony
Officials at Highland Hospital announced they have secured financing to construct its new replacement hospital. Plans call for a new four-story state-of-the-art complex to be constructed on the 56th block of MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City. Bonds totaling $29 million were sold to investors by Raymond James on April 12, 2011. After the closing on April 25, 2011, construction will begin on May 2. RC General Contractors of Charleston is the construction manager. ZMM Architects & Engineers of Charleston designed the new 73,000 square foot 98-bed behavioral health facility.
As a result of the new facility, 57 new jobs will be created.
The 12-14 month construction period also means hundreds of construction jobs.
